The Clock, the hip hop pedigree, reality tv stardom - you can't say Flava Flav's career wasn't interesting, not to mention quite entertaining. Add IRS tax debtor to that list. According to TMZ, in 2012, the IRS filed a tax lien indicating that Flav (real name, um, does it matter?) hadn't paid about $1 MILLION DOLLARS spanning the years from 2004 through 2006.
If you remember correctly, those years happen to be when Flav returned to the spotlight with Emmy winning shows "The Surreal Life," "Strange Love" and "Flavor of Love" (These shows did not win Emmys). At Wolf Tax, we followed all of them very closely and were especially big fans of Flavor of Love where we quickly developed crushes on contestants Buckwild, Deelishis, and Thing 2 (Thing 2's sister, Thing 1, just wasn't our style).
Anyway, its been reported that Flav owed $52,243.47 for 2004, $303,035.93 for 2005 and $550,971.16 for 2006. That's a total of $906,250.56. There's no way Flav was able to pay that back in full, right?
He did start that Chicken & Ribs restaurant chain called Flavor Flav's Chicken & Ribs which was super successful, so he has that. Errrrr, never mind the last Flavor Flav's Chicken & Ribs was located outside of Detroit and was forced to shut down in 2013, less than a year after it opened, after months of failing to pay rent.
Flava Flav, there's two real questions here:
(1) Why didn't it work out with Thing 2 at the end of Flavor of Love, Season 3
(2) Why didn't you call Wolf Tax?!?! One of the Wolf Tax CPA's could have made sure you didn't get into trouble in the first place and our attorneys are the best in the industry.
