Grammy-winning R&B artist and multi-platinum recording star, Anita Baker, is in big trouble. AGAIN. She once faced a potential stint in jail for contempt over her divorce settlement with ex-husband Walter Bridgforth, Jr. She's being sued for $15,000 by the company contracted to paint her home outside of Detroit. And, now, Wolf Tax resources have discovered that she is liable for over two million dollars to the Internal Revenue Service.
Baker, 62, has sold 6 million albums since 1991, won eight Grammy Awards and has five platinum albums and one gold album to her credit. With an estimated net worth of $80 million, she has enjoyed a string of hits since the 80's including " Caught Up in the Rapture ," "Same Ole Love" and "Sweet Love." Check out that song's video, which features Baker boogying alongside rows of flaming candles. Little did the video director know then how relevant that imagery would be over 30 years later.
Our sources recently found a lien for over $2 million filed by the IRS. A quick Google search will show you a long history of the superstar not paying her bills, and there's nothing quite as tacky as being a deadbeat. While you sang "Giving You the Best That I Got," were you thinking, "But not what I owe?"
C'mon, Anita. We love your music but show us you have the same responsibilities we all do as U.S. citizens.
