Rap star Jeffrey Atkins aka Ja Rule (Come on, you remember Murder, Inc. records, right?) You can find him here. was arrested in 2007 on gun and drug possession charges. Ja Rule ultimately pled guilty to a lesser charge thinking that he'd gotten off easy. Not so fast, Ja Rule. Unfortunately for Ja, he subsequently received an additional 28 month sentence in July 2011 for failing to pay federal taxes on $3 million that he earned between 2004 and 2006. He was released from prison on May 7, 2013.
Ja Rule denied any intentional wrongdoing regarding his guilt in the tax evasion case. His excuse was that he made a lot of money and didn't know any better, nor did he have people to guide him. Basically, he had no idea what was going on. He didn't understand tax consequences. For the record, I believe him. He should have called Wolf Tax.
